Anonymous asked: So i am in a long distance relationship and we have never met before and i am terrified in telling my parents because i dont know how they will react i am 17 and he will be 19 in may, he is in the navy, and he told me that he will be there for 6 years... and i really dont have a problem with that my problem is that i have no clue on how to tell my parents how i met him.. because we really met online.. any words?
Well, have you told your parents about him at all? If you haven’t, I think that would be a good place to start. Next, I would ease them into the relationship. Like tell them things about him so they can get to know him better. What he’s like, what his plans are, things like that. Usually, I would recommend that they meet each other and then tell them how you met, but if that’s not possible, then tell them the truth, especially if they ask. They might be upset or angry at first but just keep reassuring them about how much of a good guy he is. I know that my parents were a bit skeptical about my guy at first haha. Oh! and if it’s possible for your parents to talk to him, like on skype or on the phone, that would be great too because then, they can see how he is themselves, you know? :)
